SANDAR Industries incorporated in 1975 with the purpose of serving the paper industry, in parts of the United States and Latin America, through the supply of equipment and technical expertise of its founder Peter A. Rodriguez.

In 1984, SANDAR recognized that standard turn-up methods could cost a single mill, millions in potential profits. These methods were also considered dangerous and inefficient. SANDAR confronted these problems head-on by designing and patenting the first paperband turn-up system which made turn-ups simple, reliable, and cost efficient, while ensuring a safer operation.
